40mm Waterproof Laminated Padlock – Ø7.5mm Shackle, Sealed Keyway, Shed, Garden Gate & Toolbox Lock

The 40mm Waterproof Laminated Padlock is the middle size in the N-series and the sensible everyday choice of the three. The body is laminated steel — layer after layer of plate rather than a single casting, so there is nothing to crack under a hammer — sealed inside an over-moulded thermoplastic case. The case is moulded onto the lock rather than slipped over it, so there is no edge to lift, peel or prise off. A rubber waterproof ring seals the keyway and a solid brass all-copper lock core sits behind it, so it keeps turning outdoors instead of rusting shut over a wet winter.

The Ø7.5mm A3 steel shackle with 19mm of clearance is a genuine step up from the 30mm — enough for a shed hasp, a garden gate latch, a tool box or a cabinet. It is still not a yard-gate or container lock: for those, move up to the 50mm or 65mm laminated, which run a Ø11mm shackle and double brass bolt locking.
