50mm Laminated Steel Padlock – Double Brass Bolt Locking, Shed, Gate & Garage Lock

The 50mm Laminated Steel Padlock is built the traditional way — layer after layer of steel plate riveted together, nickel plated. That construction is why laminated locks handle a hammer or a chisel better than a single cast body: there is no one casting to crack.

For $13.95 the internals are better than they have any right to be. Double brass bolt locking holds the shackle at both legs, and the solid brass cylinder runs brass pins on a 304 stainless steel spring — the same internal spec as locks in this range costing considerably more. The shackle is hardened steel, rated anti-saw.

What it doesn’t have is weather sealing. If the lock will live permanently outdoors on an exposed gate, step across to the waterproof laminated versions, which add a sealed keyway and a covered body. For a shed, a garage, a roller door, a storeroom, a tool box or anything under cover, this is the sensible buy.
