55mm Waterproof Covered Padlock – Coated Shackle, Sealed Steel Gate & Shed Lock

The 55mm Waterproof Covered Padlock is the compact size in the covered range and a genuinely well-made lock for the money. The steel body sits inside a moulded thermoplastic case, and — the part most weatherproof padlocks skip — the hardened steel shackle is encased in thermoplastic too. That is the half of the lock actually exposed to rain, so coating it is what stops the rust streaks and the seized shackle a season later. A weatherproof ring seals the shackle where it enters the body, so there is no open path into the mechanism. It also means the lock will not chew up a powder-coated gate or a painted door.

Inside is a brass cylinder running brass pins on a 304 stainless steel spring, with double brass bolt locking holding the shackle at both legs. The Ø8mm shackle gives 27mm of clearance, enough for a standard hasp or a light chain. Suits gates and fencing, rolling and roller doors, patios, sheds, truck tool boxes and site cabinets.
