The 65mm Waterproof Laminated Padlock is the large size in the range: layer after layer of laminated steel, which is what gives this style its resistance to a hammer or a chisel — there is no single casting to crack.

What makes this one an outdoor lock rather than a shed lock is that both the body and the shackle are sealed inside an over-moulded thermoplastic case. Most weatherproof padlocks only cover the body and leave the shackle bare to rust; here the shackle is encased too. The case is moulded onto the lock rather than slipped over it, so there is no edge to lift, peel or prise away. Behind that sits a brass cylinder running five pins — the same pin count as a standard house door cylinder, not the three- or four-pin wafer mechanism you get in a cheap hardware-shop padlock, on brass pins and a 304 stainless spring, with double brass bolt locking holding the shackle at both legs. The high-visibility yellow body is easy to pick out on a gate or a site cage.
