DVA Privacy Mesh – One-Way Vision Security Mesh, 2.0mm Heavy Duty

DVA stands for Diminished Vision Aluminium. It is also known as privacy mesh, privacy screen mesh, daytime privacy mesh or one-way vision mesh – all the same product. The openings are punched through the sheet at 45 degrees rather than straight through, so each one is angled. From outside you are looking at the solid face of the metal and the interior stays hidden. From inside, you look straight out through the openings with a clear view and full airflow.

At 2.0mm this is the heavy duty gauge – the thickest sheet in our security mesh range.

Daytime Privacy Without Losing the View

Standard perforated and woven security mesh lets people see in as easily as you see out. DVA is the answer where privacy matters – ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms, homes close to a footpath or neighbouring window, street-facing rooms, and any opening overlooked by a road or public area. You keep the view, the light and the breeze, and lose the fishbowl.

The effect is strongest in daylight, when the outside is brighter than the room behind. At night, with interior lights on and the outside dark, the effect reverses – as it does with every one-way product, including tinted glass and privacy film.

Why 5052 Aluminium

5052 is the marine grade aluminium alloy, chosen for corrosion resistance and for its ability to be punched and formed without cracking. At 2.0mm this sheet is notably more rigid than lighter gauges, while staying far lighter than an equivalent steel sheet – easier to handle on large openings, and less load on the frame.

This mesh is stocked in six sheet sizes. The size on this page is shown in bold. All sizes share the same 2.0mm heavy duty 5052 specification and are supplied in wrapped 2-sheet packs.

Standards

Manufactured to the mesh specification used in security screen systems tested to AS 5039. Compliance with AS 5039 applies to the complete framed assembly – mesh, frame, fixings and retention method – and must be verified for the finished system. This product is sold as mesh only.

Aluminium mesh is accepted under AS 3959 for bushfire rated screening up to BAL-29 when installed in a compliant frame and assembly. For BAL-40 and BAL-FZ, AS 3959 requires corrosion resistant steel or bronze – use our 316 stainless steel security mesh for those applications.

Fixing

Retained in the frame channel with the aluminium wedge to suit 2.0mm sheet – available separately in 3 metre lengths. Note this is a different wedge to the one used with our 1.8mm perforated sheet.

Ordering, Pickup and Delivery

Supplied in wrapped 2-sheet packs, so orders are placed in multiples of 2. Priced per sheet. Available for pickup from our Sunshine West VIC warehouse with 24 hours notice. This sheet cannot be rolled and must ship flat.
