Fibreglass fly screen mesh: the standard for windows and doors
Fibreglass is the most common fly screen mesh in Australian homes. It's light, doesn't rust or dent, and is the easiest mesh to roll into a frame if you're doing it yourself. Our fibreglass mesh is 0.28 mm thick, 128 gsm and alkaline-free. It comes in 50 m rolls from 610 to 2140 mm wide, and there's also a 910 mm × 30 m black roll.
Choose a different mesh if you need one of these:
- A bushfire rating: aluminium (BAL29) or 316 stainless (BAL40).
- Protection from pets: pet-resistant mesh.
FAQs
What width should I buy?
Buy a roll wider than your largest screen frame, so the mesh overhangs the spline channel on both sides. The Flyscreen Mesh Buying Guide covers widths and roll lengths.
Is fibreglass mesh strong enough for screen doors?
For normal household use, yes. For high-traffic doors or large openings, heavy-duty aluminium lasts longer.
