Heavy duty woven stainless steel security mesh, supplied as a flat sheet ready to fit into your own frame. Manufactured from 316 marine grade stainless steel – the grade specified for coastal and high humidity environments – and finished in a durable black powder coat.

Why 316 Stainless

316 contains molybdenum, giving it materially better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless. It is the grade specified for salt air exposure, making it the right choice for coastal properties, pool surrounds and anywhere subject to sea spray. It is also the grade that keeps the mesh compliant in the highest bushfire attack levels, where aluminium is not accepted.

This mesh is stocked in six sheet sizes. The size on this page is shown in bold. All sizes share the same 316 marine grade specification, 11 x 11 weave and 0.8mm wire.

Standards

Manufactured to the mesh specification used in security screen systems tested to AS 5039. Compliance with AS 5039 applies to the complete framed assembly – mesh, frame, fixings and retention method – and must be verified for the finished system. This product is sold as mesh only.

Bushfire – BAL-40 and BAL-FZ

This is the mesh to specify where the bushfire attack level rules aluminium out. For BAL-40 and BAL-FZ, AS 3959 permits screening of corrosion resistant steel or bronze only – aluminium mesh is accepted up to BAL-29 and no higher. 316 stainless steel is corrosion resistant steel, and at approximately 1.5mm this weave sits inside the 2mm maximum aperture AS 3959 specifies, so it meets the material and aperture requirements at every bushfire attack level, BAL-40 and BAL-FZ included.

As with AS 5039, the bushfire rating belongs to the complete framed assembly – mesh, frame, fixings and retention method – so the finished system must be verified for the BAL it is being built to. This product is supplied as mesh only.
