Frequently asked questions
A swing bolt lock throws a hooked or straight bolt that swings out of the lock body rather than sliding. It is common on commercial aluminium doors. The SB22 has a 22 mm short throw, the SB37 a 37 mm long throw and the SB29 a 29 mm hook throw that engages a spring-loaded strike box.
No. The swing bolt lock sets include escutcheons but no cylinders or turns, so you choose what goes on each side. Add an oval cylinder with a rabbit ear cam on each side that needs a key, or fit the gear-driven escape lever on the inside so the door can always be opened for emergency egress.
The SB29 hook throw lock engages a spring-loaded striker box mounted in the frame, which the hook catches as the bolt swings out. The SB29 lock set already includes a strike box. If yours is worn or damaged, a replacement spring-loaded striker box to suit SB29 hook locks is sold separately in this range.
