TradeBase Buying Guide

Choose the right sliding door roller in 60 seconds

Organised by door type — same as the shop sidebar. External Patio, Sliding, Internal, Cavity, Security and Screen. Every roller has tiered pricing.

A failed sliding-door roller is the repair that becomes a whole-day project if you order the wrong one. This guide is laid out exactly the way the shop is filtered: pick your door type below, scroll the cards, click the right product. Most rollers are tagged across several door types — a 35 kg brass roller fits external patio, sliding and internal alike — so don’t be surprised to see the same roller in more than one section.

Pick by door type

💰 Tiered pricing on every listing. Single, 4-pack, 10-pack, 20-pack, 50-pack, 100-pack — price drops as volume goes up. Multi-unit landlords and locksmiths: email sales@tradebaseaustralia.com.au for set trade rates locked in for the year.

1. External Patio Door rollers

Glazed exterior sliding doors. Two rollers per door carrying 25–40 kg each. Outdoor exposure means you want a solid bearing — acetal for budget, brass or stainless for coastal.

17 mm Flared Wings — 25 kg

Oversized patio doors and A&L® stacker systems. Heaviest standard rating in the range. Adjustable carriage.

2. Sliding Door rollers (multi-purpose 35 kg)

Tagged in the shop under Sliding Door and also fits External Patio and Internal Door. One carriage that handles all three. The smart spec for builders and locksmiths who want one part for three jobs. Pick brass for coastal exposure, stainless polymer for the standard install.

TradeBase brass roller 35kg heavy duty sliding wardrobe patio

35 kg · Brass · Coastal

Adjustable Brass Roller — 35 kg

Solid brass roller body, won’t seize even after years of grit ingress. Best choice within 1 km of the coast or for high-cycle commercial use.

TradeBase stainless steel carriage with polymer roller 35kg sliding wardrobe patio

35 kg · Stainless + Polymer

Stainless & Polymer Roller — 35 kg

Stainless bearing and axle, polymer wheel. Quiet running, salt-spray resistant, balances cost and durability for the standard installer.

3. Internal Door rollers (wardrobe)

Indoor wardrobe slider, lighter than patio. Three carriage styles: the standard 39 mm acetal carriage for most modern wardrobes, the concave-wheel roller for older tracks where the wheel rides a raised or rounded rail, and the convex-wheel roller for tracks with a grooved or V-cut profile. The 35 kg multi-purpose rollers above are also tagged Internal Door if you want one part across all jobs.

TradeBase adjustable wardrobe door roller carriage with concave wheel

Concave wheel

Concave-Wheel Wardrobe Roller

Adjustable carriage with a concave (cupped) wheel that rides a raised or rounded rail. Older wardrobes, cupboards, screen and glass cabinet doors.

TradeBase adjustable wardrobe door roller carriage with convex wheel

Convex wheel

Convex-Wheel Wardrobe Roller

Adjustable carriage with a convex (rounded) wheel that rides a grooved or V-cut track. The opposite profile to the concave above — check the existing track shape before ordering.

Concave or convex — how to tell? Pull out the old roller and look at the wheel face. Concave = the wheel has a dip in the middle and rides a raised rail. Convex = the wheel is rounded out and rides a grooved track. If the rail is flat, you want the standard 39 mm acetal wardrobe roller above.

4. Cavity Door rollers (top-hung)

Doors that slide into a wall cavity. The whole door hangs from a top track — no bottom roller. Pick the metal-carriage 12 kg trolley for aluminium-frame cavity doors, or the timber-cavity trolley for solid timber.

5. Security Door rollers (spring wheels)

The little spring-loaded wheels that run along the bottom track of a sliding security screen door. When one fails, the door drags. Swap-out is a 5-minute job — lift the door off the track, press the old wheel out of the carriage, click the new one in. Available in single-unit through to 100-pack for locksmiths and large property portfolios. These products are tagged Security Door and Screen Door.

TradeBase security screen door spring roller and guide block installed in situ on sliding door track
Both the spring roller and the bottom guide block run on the same track — if the door drags, you usually need both.

Pair with the bottom guide block. The spring roller carries the weight; the guide block keeps the door tracking straight. Most sliding security doors that drag actually need both replaced — the wheel wears down and the guide block crumbles or pops out around the same time.

Pair with · Guide block 23.5 mm

Sliding Screen Door Guide Block — $6.99

Universal fit, black, 23.5 mm. Sits in the bottom track and keeps the door running straight while the spring rollers carry the weight. Fits the same track as the spring rollers above.

6. Screen Door rollers & accessories

Need to replace the whole carriage assembly, not just the spring wheel? The galvanised corner-stake cassette is a complete drop-in replacement for sliding screen doors. The bottom guide block from section 5 is also tagged Screen Door in the shop.

Security Door Corner Cassette — 25 kg

Adjustable galvanised cassette with acetal bearing roller. Full carriage replacement when the cassette body itself is bent or worn out, not just the wheel.

Bearing material

Mirrors the shop’s Material filter sidebar.

  • Steel Carriage and Acetal Roller — quietest running, lowest cost. Best for indoor wardrobe and cavity sliders. Most common spec in the range.
  • Stainless Steel Carriage Axel and Bearing · Polymer Roller Tyre — coastal exposure, salt-spray resistant, longest service life on outdoor patio doors.
  • Brass — heavy patio doors. Won’t seize even after years of grit ingress. Most expensive but bulletproof.
  • HDPE Plastic — specialist applications, lightweight indoor.

Brand compatibility

TradeBase rollers are direct mechanical replacements for the major Australian sliding-door brands. Compatible with A&L® (32 mm 40 kg matches their patio systems), Bradnam®, Stegbar®, Dowell®, Centor®, Henderson®, Rolltrak, and Sylon cavity systems.

Installation

Replacing a patio-door roller takes 20–30 minutes per door. Lift the door off the track (always two people for glazed doors), unscrew the carriage from the door bottom, drop the new carriage in the same screw holes, adjust the height-adjustment screw to clear the bottom of the frame, and re-fit. Cavity sliders are similar but you’ll need to drop the door from above. Security-screen spring rollers are a 5-minute swap — lift the door, press the old wheel out of the carriage, click the new one in.

Still not sure?

Take a photo of the existing roller / carriage from underneath the door and email it with the door type to sales@tradebaseaustralia.com.au. We’ll match you to the right TradeBase replacement in one reply. Or browse the full sliding door roller and carriage range.
